A very incomplete list of books I hope you read.
1. Daring Greatly - Brene Brown (SO important.)
2. Falling Upward - Richard Rohr (This is the grown up book about faith you have been waiting for far longer than you realize)
3. Failure of Nerve - Edwin Friedman (THE essential book on emotional and organizational heath in leadership - not light reading)
4. The Complete Enneagram - Beatrice Chestnut (The best book out there about the most helpful personality tool that I have found.)
5. The Great Divorce - C. S. Lewis. (Lewis at his very best - Its my favorite book by Lewis, and one of my all time favorites)
6. Shoulder Pads - Mark Riddle (If you have ever wondered why you are so exhausted at work or church, this short little book nails it - kindle only)
7. Community - Peter Block (read the summary at the end first)
8. Christ our Eternal Contemporary - Lesslie Newbigin (I can send you the PDF)
9. Jesus Feminist - Sarah Bessey
10. Insurrection - Peter Rollins (One of the most challenging and rewarding books I have ever read)
11. Leaving Church & An Alter in the World by Barbara Brown Taylor - (or Anything she writes)
12. Beauty will save the World - Brian Zahnd (or farewell to mars)
13. I See Satan Falling - Rene Girard (super tough read, hard concepts to grapple with, but SO worth it.)
14. The End of Sexual Identity - Jenel Paris (we should all stop talking about gender until after reading this book)
15. What we talk about when we talk about God - Rob Bell. (If you haven’t read anything by Rob, Maybe start with ‘Jesus wants to save Christians’, then read ‘Love Wins’, then come back for this one.)
16. Unapologetic - Francis Spufford
17. Simply Jesus - N. T. Wright.
18. “The Bible Tells Me So: Why Defending Scripture Has Made Us Unable to Read It” by Peter Enns
19. “Disarming Scripture: Cherry-Picking Liberals, Violence-Loving Conservatives, and Why We All Need to Learn to Read The Bible Like Jesus Did” by Derek Flood"
20. Orbiting the Giant Hairball - Gordon Mackenzie (Especially helpful for creative people working in environments which are unintentionally hostile to creative people… like churches)
21. The Orthodox Way - Bishop Kallistos Ware (If you grew up evangelical, welcome to the deep end of the pool)
22. The Five Disfunction of a Team - Patrick Lencioni (One of the best books on teams that exists)
23. Post Rapture Radio - Russel Rathbun (This is the weirdest book on the list - so strange and yet has had a massive impact on how I understand God and church)
24.Telling the Truth - Frederick Buechner (If you have never read Buechner, put down whatever your reading, and find a book by him.)
